Chapter One: Rebirth in Douluo

In a dim, small cosmos, a point of light suddenly appeared within a tiny world. The instant this light emerged, the entire realm trembled; thunder roared across the sky, and what should have been daylight instantly turned into night. As the light descended into a dense forest, all surrounding life scattered in every direction. Even the unconscious plants uprooted themselves, attempting to flee.
This strange phenomenon affected not only this world but was also felt in the distant divine realm. As the gods sought to convene and investigate the cause, all these anomalies abruptly ceased. The gods, as if nothing had happened, resumed their own affairs, having lost all memory of the disturbance.
Similarly, in this world, all destruction was restored to its original state, and the world’s memory was wiped clean, as if nothing had occurred. The sky was filled with white clouds, yet something seemed subtly altered.
The Starry Forest had also returned to normal, untouched—except for a spot at its edge. There, a luxurious carriage stood halted on the road. The horses pulling it were so frightened they had collapsed unconscious.
At that moment, a trembling voice spoke.
“Your Holiness the Pope, what—what is happening?”
Inside the carriage sat a breathtaking woman, crowned with a purple-gold diadem, clad in a pale purple gown, and wearing high heels. Her brows furrowed lightly as her beautiful eyes turned toward the source of the commotion, only a few hundred meters away. After a moment’s thought, she said:
“Elder Ju, let us go see what has happened.”
Outside, a man clad in golden armor, with an alluringly handsome face, shuddered slightly upon hearing this.
“Your Holiness, are you really going? It could be dangerous. You have just become the Pope of the Martial Soul Hall. Nothing must happen to you,” the man warned quietly, his face troubled.
The woman did not reply but stepped directly down from the carriage. Tall and stunning, she carried an air of authority.
She glanced at the man and began walking toward the distance. The man immediately bowed his head and silently followed her footsteps to the place where the tremor had occurred.
In just a few breaths, their forms flickered, and they arrived at their destination. The scene before them made their breathing catch.
A stretch of land lay devastated, with a pit about a hundred meters wide and several dozen meters deep. What astonished them was not only the devastation but the sight of a stone pillar about two meters in diameter standing intact at the pit’s center. On its overgrown bushes, something seemed to emit a faint glow.
The enchanting woman examined it but discerned nothing. After a moment’s thought, she soared into the air and leapt onto the stone pillar.
“Your Holiness, wait for me!” the dazzling man behind her called, quickly following onto the pillar.
Both stared curiously at the glowing cluster before them.
“Holiness, what is this?” the man asked.
The woman shook her head, indicating she did not know.

After a moment of puzzlement, the woman extended a finger and gently touched the glowing cluster. Her first sensation was warmth, a comforting feeling, as if she had come into contact with sunlight.
“Holiness, we still don’t know what this is. It’s best not to touch it. What if something happens to you?” the man whispered anxiously, alarmed by her boldness.
Before she could respond, the glowing cluster suddenly exploded into countless points of light floating in the air. At its center remained a spot bathed in radiance. Before either could react, the light particles entered their bodies.
Most entered the woman, while a smaller portion entered the man.
The man gasped, “What are these? Holiness, are you alright?”
He checked himself anxiously for any problems.
The woman frowned, a trace of worry crossing her mind. Her thoughts were interrupted by the man’s sudden exclamation. When she turned to question him, she found his face filled with shock, confusion, and joy.
In disbelief, he said, “Holiness, my soul power has surged to level ninety-four, nearly reaching ninety-five!”
She was stunned. She knew he was level ninety-three and that reaching ninety-four would normally take years. Yet now, not only had he reached ninety-four, he was close to ninety-five.
It must be due to the light particles that entered Elder Ju’s body, she reasoned.
The man realized this too and grew excited. He had not expected such a gain but noticed only a small portion of the light had entered him; the majority had gone into the woman.
He looked at her with envy.
The woman closed her eyes quietly, sensing her own body. Soon, she opened them with delight.
Her soul power level had reached ninety-nine, the same tier as the Grand Offering of the Offering Hall.
She possessed twin martial souls, and if her second soul reached full rings, her future power would surpass even the Grand Offering, with a chance to become a god!
At this thought, her eyes shone with excitement, her body trembling.
Seeing her joyful expression, the man quickly congratulated her, “Congratulations, Holiness. With your strength advancing further, unifying the entire continent is within reach.”
As for having no gain—that was impossible. The man didn’t hesitate to think that even he had leveled up with only a small portion of the light particles; how much more so the Pope who had the majority!
The woman nodded in satisfaction, a smile appearing on her face.
Suddenly, the man seemed to sense something and released his soul rings. Nine soul rings floated beside him.
The woman looked over. Yellow, yellow, purple, purple, black, black, black, black—yes, this was the standard soul ring configuration.
But when they saw the ninth, both froze. The soul ring, which should have been black, had turned red. This meant it was a hundred-thousand-year soul ring!
The man suddenly felt dizzy, as if slipping into a hallucination.
The woman was no better off. Her mouth opened slightly, unable to speak, her eyes momentarily blank.
“I have a hundred-thousand-year soul ring? Is that possible?” the man shouted in disbelief, his expression shifting wildly, as if mad.
His voice roused the woman. The next instant, she released her soul rings, and sure enough, her configuration had changed. From two yellow, two purple, four black, and one red, it transformed into five black and four red.
“How… how is this possible?” she swallowed nervously, her voice trembling. It wasn’t that she lacked composure—anyone faced with such a sudden surge in soul ring age would find it hard to remain calm.
“Five black and four red! Can such a soul ring configuration even exist?” she asked, her eyes hollow. Even the Grand Offering—the closest being to a deity in the Martial Soul Hall—did not possess such a set.
These were hundred-thousand-year soul rings. In the entire Soul Master world, those who wielded such soul rings could be counted on one hand.
And for one person to own four hundred-thousand-year soul rings—that was unprecedented since the birth of Soul Masters.
They withdrew their soul rings and stood silently, feeling as if the world itself was shattering around them, as if in a dream.
Just then, the glowing light in front of them faded, revealing a baby wrapped in a delicate sheet.
The two stared in astonishment. The infant’s face was calm, skin pale as porcelain, and his black-and-white eyes were extraordinarily beautiful.
The woman instinctively cradled the baby. The infant quietly gazed back at her with pure, innocent eyes.
At that first glance, the woman took a liking to him. A gentle smile appeared on her face, her gaze softening.
She whispered, “Elder Ju, this child—I will take him back to the Martial Soul Hall.”
Though it sounded like a suggestion, there was an unyielding determination behind her words.
Elder Ju was surprised but said nothing, silently nodding. Given his position, he could not alter her decision.
They began their journey back. Along the way, the woman kept her eyes tenderly on the baby, occasionally brushing his fair, jade-like cheek with her finger.
Soon, they returned to the carriage. The frightened horses revived, and the woman settled back inside. Elder Ju took the reins and slowly headed toward the Martial Soul Hall.
“Little one, my name is Bibi Dong. What is your name?” the woman said suddenly while holding the baby, who naturally could not reply.
Looking out at the white clouds and sky, she continued softly, “You came from beyond the heavens, breaking through the clouds. Then I shall call you Ling Xiao—how does that sound…”
