Chapter 13: Naruto Awakens the Sharingan
At home.
Naruto is reading a book.
To be precise, he is reading history.
The most convenient way to understand an unfamiliar world is to study its history.
"Chaotic, it’s far too chaotic."
This was Naruto's only impression after reading.
The world of the Shinobi has five major nations, and even more minor ones.
The major nations have been embroiled in war for years for the sake of their own interests, while the minor nations are either exploited by them or reduced to mere fodder.
From the time the First Hokage founded Konoha until now, only about 50 years have passed, yet three world wars have already erupted, not to mention the countless minor skirmishes and conflicts interspersed between them.
This land is comparable to the Warring States period of the Seven Kingdoms; how else could one describe it but chaotic?
"Was the First Hokage actually a bit dim-witted?"
Seeing the history of Konoha’s founding, Naruto felt deeply confused, his mind filled with questions.
Perhaps it was his limited vision and perception; when he founded Konoha and stood unrivaled, his thought was not to unify the ninja world, but to distribute the Tailed Beasts to maintain a balance of power among the various villages.
This... is hard to fathom.
Even Qin Shi Huang would want to take his six-foot sword and give that incomprehensible head a good knock.
Could it be that the excessive war and death caused by the previous Warring States period made the First Hokage desperate for peace?
That is possible.
But to let such a golden opportunity slip away—I fear the future will only be more tumultuous.
Later developments proved this true: not long after the First Hokage passed, the First Shinobi World War broke out, followed by the second and the third.
The most recent war Naruto knows of, which ended only a few years ago, involved friction between Konoha and the Lightning and Earth nations.
War is a concept that feels alien to Naruto.
In his previous life, he lived in a peaceful country; though war existed in the world, it was far removed from him.
In this life, however, he has been groomed as a warrior since the age of six, as if constantly preparing for a future outbreak of war.
At this thought, Naruto began his daily self-reflection:
Am I invincible yet?
Am I invincible yet?
Am I invincible yet?
Although he is only six, Naruto has to start pondering such difficult questions.
"Not yet, Naruto. You definitely couldn't beat the First Hokage."
Recalling the moment, the Nine-Tails added, "Even though we are enemies, I must admit that the First Hokage was a very strong man—like a god."
"How exactly did that Wood Release come into existence?"
Thinking of the First Hokage's unique Wood Release, Naruto was filled with curiosity; it seemed that this Wood Release was even the source of the name "Konoha" (Hidden Leaf) village.
To this, the Nine-Tails replied that it really didn't know.
It doesn't know much about human affairs.
'Could it be a fusion of two elemental natures?' Naruto was puzzled; perhaps he could try experimenting with that in his upcoming training.
In the path of cultivation, he has always been exploring on his own without any teacher to guide him, which has led to a lack of basic common sense.
Take his strength, for example.
Naruto had always assumed that even with his SSSSSS-rank talent, he was only six years old, so even if he felt strong, his power was likely at most that of a Chunin or Jonin.
But the Nine-Tails suddenly told him that he was at least Kage-level in strength, and that his Fire Release was not even inferior to that of Uchiha Madara.
Naruto was quite surprised.
"And what about Uchiha Madara?" Naruto asked about the First Hokage's lifelong rival.
"Perhaps you couldn't beat him either," the Nine-Tails recalled. "Although your Fire Release is stronger than his, his greatest strength was not Fire Release, but those eyes of his."
"What kind of eyes?"
Naruto was astonished. What kind of eyes could have such an effect that they were even stronger than his Fire Release?
"The Mangekyo Sharingan. Those eyes possess soul-shattering ocular power and god-like abilities."
'The Mangekyo Sharingan.' That name tells you absolutely nothing.
He did know what a Sharingan was, however.
And then adding "Mangekyo" to it.
Could it be some kind of fancy, cool-looking Sharingan?
"Is that a form of evolution for the Sharingan?"
"Exactly. The Uchiha clan’s unique Three-Tomoe Sharingan can evolve to awaken the Mangekyo."
I see, Naruto finally understood.
The Mangekyo is a further evolution of the Sharingan.
And Uchiha Madara relied on a pair of those Mangekyo to rival the First Hokage.
It seems this Mangekyo is quite powerful.
To be able to rival the First Hokage's Wood Release with just a pair of eyes?
'Do these eyes have any special abilities?' Naruto’s curiosity was piqued.
"Since that's the case, I'll continue training. No leaving the mountain until I'm invincible."
Hearing this, the Nine-Tails was speechless and said, "Naruto, you are a bit too cautious."
"Not cautious, not at all. After all, I'm only six, what's the rush?"
Naruto meant what he said.
Humans always unconsciously modify their surroundings to make them more suitable for their own survival.
Naruto is the same.
Since he has already transmigrated, this world is where he lives, so to ensure a good mood for the future, changing the ninja world is imperative.
As for how to change it? For now, he only has a rough idea.
Without investigation, there is no right to speak.
Naruto's understanding of the ninja world is simply too shallow; he plans to learn more about it before making any plans.
But there is no need to rush.
After all, he is only six; his childhood hasn't even begun yet.
At least wait until he is an adult before taking action.
Naruto plans to wait until he is 18... no, 16.
Once he is 16 and fully developed, he will start to change the world.
Before then, he will enjoy this peaceful and happy childhood.
The next morning.
Naruto woke up early but was in no rush to go to school; there was still plenty of time.
He was staring blankly at the bloodline interface in the shop.
There was an item listed.
Name: Uchiha Bloodline.
Should he buy such a thing?
Regarding this question, Naruto was somewhat hesitant.
The main reasons were the cautionary example of Uchiha Madara and the protagonist in his class, Uchiha Sasuke.
Previously, Naruto only knew that a guy called 'Sasuke' was likely the protagonist, but he didn't know his surname.
Now he knew.
Full name: Uchiha Sasuke.
There was the powerful Uchiha Madara before him, and the future protagonist Uchiha Sasuke after him.
Naruto even heard rumors from time to time about the genius Uchiha Itachi and the "Body Flicker" Shisui.
"The Uchiha clan certainly produces geniuses." Thinking of these two famous geniuses, Naruto sighed sincerely.
With his SSSSSS-rank talent, he naturally didn't fear these geniuses, but what Naruto feared was that he was completely ignorant of things like the 'Mangekyo Sharingan.'
What is terrifying isn't the Mangekyo Sharingan; what is terrifying is the unknown.
The unknown means having absolutely no intelligence, no contingency plans, and no idea how to respond.
Naruto had considered searching the shop and the skill room to see if he could find any clues.
But the setting of this trashy game was that without the corresponding attribute/bloodline, the corresponding product modules would not appear.
In other words, if Naruto only had Wind-style chakra, only Wind-style ninjutsu and non-elemental genjutsu/taijutsu would appear in the skill room; other chakra-based jutsus would not show up.
Therefore, Naruto had to take the risk himself and personally experience this ability.

Naruto hurried to the mirror, where he saw a pair of eerily strange pupils.
The deep blue color of his eyes had vanished, replaced by black and white. Around the pupils, a circle of blood-red thin lines appeared, and at this moment, two tomoe were rotating around each pupil on the red lines.
"Is this the Sharingan? It is surprisingly beautiful."
