Chapter 1: Impossible, Absolutely Impossible! (A Fresh Newcomer’s Debut—Your Support Is Greatly Appreciated!)
Year 41 of Konoha, March 18th.
“Damn it, damn it, damn it…”
Obito Uchiha, goggles strapped on, sprinted toward the Ninja Academy, only to arrive and find that the teachers had already taken down the banner for the entrance ceremony, and the students who had attended had long since dispersed.
He was late!
Missing the entrance ceremony meant that even if he passed the assessment, he couldn’t enroll in the Ninja Academy and would have to wait another year.
Obito Uchiha felt his spirits sink.
As he passed by, Kakashi, wrapped in a scarf and clutching his enrollment documents under his arm, suddenly stopped and glanced back slightly. “You’re late for such an important occasion? Someone like you doesn’t deserve to enter the academy. No chance!”
With that, Kakashi shrugged his shoulders.
Obito turned to look at Kakashi, his teeth clenched in anger. That bastard was infuriating.
Just then, an angelic voice rang out.
“It’s alright, I’ll help you get it!”
Obito turned to see Rin Nohara smiling gently, holding out the documents in both hands.
At that moment, the girl’s smile deeply touched him. A blush rose to Obito’s cheeks as he clasped his hands together, baring his teeth in a grateful grin. “Thank you so much! I owe you one!”
Rin smiled warmly. “No need to be so formal.”
Kakashi glanced back once more, then sneered and walked away with his hands in his pockets.
Not far away, under a roadside tree, Genichi Shimoshita observed this classic scene, inexplicably feeling as if he were witnessing history in the making.
His surname was Shimoshita, his given name Genichi.
In fact, for three generations before him, there was no surname—only given names.
Of course, the surname Shimoshita wasn’t chosen by Genichi himself but by his father.
Because of great expectations placed upon him, and to commemorate the promise made to his wife beneath a tree, his father gave him the surname Shimoshita.
It was a very traditional name.
Although his father claimed to have thought it through deeply before deciding, Genichi knew for certain the name was only conceived the day he passed the Ninja Academy assessment.
Turning to stroll home, Genichi Shimoshita focused his attention on the mysterious, radiant purple orb swirling in his mind.
It had appeared when he awakened his innate wisdom this morning and gained memories from a past life.
A quintessential gift for a time traveler—completely normal.
He had been too busy with the entrance ceremony until now to explore it.
“Can I cash in on the future ahead of time?”
Genichi caught the information contained within the purple orb.
“Advance achievements and experiences from the future, almost like drawing on a paycheck in advance?”
“No, wait, it should be called overdraft, right?”
“No, that’s not quite it—it seems there’s no need to repay.”
Genichi pondered silently: “But this gift isn’t very straightforward; it’d be better if it were simpler and more intuitive.”
Just as he thought this, the purple orb suddenly expanded and transformed into a sleek panel.
The panel was minimalistic, with only two options displayed:
[Overdraft Future Ten Years] [Overdraft Future Hundred Years]
Only the “Overdraft Future Ten Years” option shimmered with purple light, while the other was grayed out.
“Ah, that’s much cooler!”
Genichi grinned inwardly and immediately wished for some explanations.
In the next moment, a line of annotation appeared on the panel.
[The future you overdraft (cash in) includes achievements and experience across all fields such as ninjutsu but excludes memories.]
“Memories aren’t included… well, no big deal. Although I can’t recall many plot details, since I’m a traveler, many of those so-called storylines will change anyway.”
“But the information about many people and events won’t change. Even without future memories, it’s not a problem.”
“The key is ninjutsu and… experience!”
Genichi felt a surge of excitement.
To be honest, awakening his innate wisdom and realizing he had transmigrated into the Naruto world left Genichi feeling uneasy.
The Naruto world was hardly a place where an ordinary person could survive, especially Konoha—a hellish place.
Though blessed by fate, danger lurked at every turn.
Moreover, becoming a ninja itself was extremely perilous. The routine missions were one thing, but the multiple ninja wars represented cataclysmic disasters.
Of course, he could choose not to become a ninja.
But compared with being an ordinary person, powerless in the face of calamities, Genichi preferred to become a ninja and fight with all his might!
“With a cheat like this, I’m basically unstoppable!”
Filled with anticipation, Genichi quickened his pace.
When he returned home, his parents were busy at work.
Their family ran a dumpling shop; the storefront was downstairs, and their living quarters were above.
“Dad, Mom, I’m back! The entrance ceremony went smoothly!”
Genichi waved the documents in his hand before dashing upstairs.
His father watched his son go upstairs with a smile, his heart finally settling. “At last, our family has a ninja again!”
His mother looked on with some worry. “Being a ninja is dangerous, you know.”
His father laughed. “Don’t worry. The ninja wars have ended. Once Genichi graduates and takes on some simple missions, it’ll be quite safe.”
Though he held high hopes for his son, those hopes were modest—just to become a ninja.
Being a Genin was enough.
If he could become a Chunin, that would be a great surprise.
As for Jonin… he dared not even think about it. Not at all.
None of his ancestors for three generations had ever reached Jonin.
…
Back in his room, Genichi immediately lay down, closed his eyes, and focused on the overdraft panel.
“Achievements from ten years of training, experience from training, even battle and mission experience, all sorts of knowledge…”
“In ten years, I’ll be fifteen. As a traveler, it should be no problem to become at least a Jonin, not to mention an Anbu or a Kage-level ninja.”
“Come on, future me, show me what you’ve got!”
Genichi made his choice: overdraft the next ten years.
In an instant, the panel transformed back into a purple orb, flaring brightly, illuminating every cell within Genichi Shimoshita.
At that moment, his mind went blank, but his body felt electrified; every muscle and cell trembled.
He lost track of time.
When his consciousness returned, he felt as if he had dreamed for six years.
Wait, why six years?
Genichi opened his eyes. “Am I… going to die in six years?”
“Also, why do I only have the Three Body Technique and basic Body Flicker Technique, plus just one Water Style: Water Gun?”
“Isn’t that supposed to be Jonin-level?”
Suddenly sitting up, Genichi’s face went pale.
So ten years from now, I’m just a Genin?
Maybe I’ll even die in six years?
Impossible!
Absolutely impossible!
Even if this body’s talent is average, knowing the storyline as I do, I can’t be this pathetic!
Not to mention the Seduction Jutsu, Harem Jutsu, or even the Rasengan—those should be no problem!
Genichi refused to accept it.
Just then, a new annotation appeared on the panel now fully restored in his mind.
[The future is not set in stone.]
[The future is decided by the present.]
