Chapter 30: The Character Secret of Weaponry!
After finishing his meal and taking a shower, Genichi Keshita finally returned to his bedroom and lay down on his bed.
What kind of achievements would he have in the next ten years? Genichi was filled with anticipation.
The Yin Seal! The Four-Symbols Seal! Kenjutsu! The Nine Syllables Hand Seals! And then there were the Zero-Tails and cellular transplantation.
Closing his eyes, Genichi chose to "overdraw the next ten years."
As the overdraft interface shattered into a cluster of purple light, Genichi’s mind instantly went blank, while his cells trembled as if they had been struck by an electric current.
A moment later, Genichi’s eyelids fluttered, and he opened his eyes. "Finally, I’ve completed a full decade..."
He had overdrawn the future three times before; the first was actually only six years, and the second was eight. This time, it was finally a full ten years, meaning the point in the future he had reached was March 18th of the 53rd year of Konoha.
In that year, he would be seventeen!
Genichi smiled. Although this overdraft still hadn't yielded the Zero-Tails, nor had there been any cellular transplantation or changes in physical modification, he had gained a great deal in other areas.
Rising from his bed, Genichi walked quickly to the washroom and looked at himself in the mirror.
A diamond-shaped mark was clearly visible on his forehead. This was the mark of the Yin Seal, which he had only fully mastered in the ninth year of the future; the process had been nothing short of grueling.
"At least my 'fear of insufficient chakra' has finally been alleviated!" Genichi beamed.
The Yin Seal stored four years' worth of his chakra. If he didn't unseal and use it, it would continue to accumulate. Moreover, his future self had used the techniques Sakura Haruno developed for the Yin Seal, dividing his chakra reservoir into two—one large, one small. The large one was the Yin Seal, while the small one was for daily use. This was to avoid hindering his usual training and combat. Of course, if the small reservoir wasn't enough, he could stop accumulating chakra, and if that still wasn't enough, he could release the chakra stored within the Yin Seal.
Returning to the bedroom, Genichi picked up his forehead protector and put it on, covering the mark of the Yin Seal. Keep a low profile!
Afterward, he strapped his sword to his back and headed out to the small grove where he often practiced. Taking a few deep breaths, Genichi formed the "Bing" (Soldier) hand seal.
Once the seal was set, his figure instantly vanished from the spot, moving at high speed through the woods and leaving trails of afterimages in his wake.
A moment later, he returned to his starting point, his expression filled with slight excitement. "After using the 'Bing' seal, my speed has increased by about a third."
"And it’s not just movement speed; it includes my neural reaction speed as well."
"Or rather, speed in every sense has been enhanced: neural reaction, body flicker speed, hand seal formation speed..."
He hadn't chosen the wrong path! The Nine Syllables Hand Seals were indeed extraordinary and held immense potential for deep exploration. Although it was only a one-third increase, that increase was additive. Furthermore, Genichi felt that the potential of the "Bing" hand seal was still vast. With continued study, he might be able to double it or achieve even more.
However, Genichi also felt a twinge of regret. Of the ten years he had overdrawn, only the "Bing" seal had yielded results, while the "Jie" (All) seal, which he had decided to study in depth, had yet to produce any fruit.
"From now on, I'll call this technique... the Bing Stance!" Genichi happily gave it a name. There might be a Jie Stance and a Rin Stance in the future.
"The research into the Nine Syllables Hand Seals must be pursued for a hundred years without wavering!" Genichi further solidified his resolve.
Suddenly, a question occurred to him: just how strong was he now?
Counting the three overdrafts, he had effectively trained for twenty-six years. If calculated crudely, he should have the combat power of a thirty-one-year-old. At that moment, Genichi felt the urge to find someone to spar with and test his mettle.
But then he gave a slight smile. Kakashi and Guy hadn't grown up yet; should he go find his teacher, Sakumo Hatake? If they actually fought, he would likely still be crushed. Before he became his apprentice, Genichi thought Sakumo only specialized in kenjutsu, but after becoming his student, he realized that wasn't the case at all. Sakumo, who had mastered all five nature transformations, could use all five types of ninjutsu with great proficiency. He just happened to use his blade most of the time.
High speed, high offense, swift decisive battles, and efficiency—that was the combat style of the White Fang of Konoha.
"Style, or rather, a tactical system," Genichi pondered to himself.
Water clones as decoys, the real body to deprive the enemy of sight with genjutsu, and kenjutsu for melee strikes to the neck. Or, pure kenjutsu for melee strikes. If that didn't work, then unleash grand Water Release techniques. If that still didn't work, capitalize on the opening for a melee strike to the neck. In short, one had to be flexible and fully utilize one's own advantages.
After thinking these things through, Genichi shifted his focus to his plans for the coming year and his priorities for the future.
"In terms of training, I must not neglect the Nine Syllables Hand Seals, genjutsu, Wind Release nature transformation, Water Release, or sealing jutsu."
"And for the future, building on this foundation, I must plot to obtain the great sword Samehada, the Zero-Tails, and... the Nine-Tails!"
Genichi subconsciously licked his lips. This was the first time he had formally listed the Nine-Tails as a target for his schemes. Of course, he didn't want to kill Kushina Uzumaki. While he was a bit utilitarian, he wasn't heartless. Not only did he not want to kill Kushina, but he actually intended to save her. However, that didn't prevent him from scheming to obtain the Nine-Tails during the Nine-Tails Incident. After all, he could potentially obtain the Nine-Tails in the future and bring it back to the present.
But thinking of this, Genichi was also very curious: if he really managed to obtain the Zero-Tails or Nine-Tails in the future and it appeared on his present self, what would the state of the Nine-Tails or Zero-Tails already existing in the present be?
...
On March 20th, Genichi appeared at the village gate, his sword hanging at his waist and a backpack on his back.
"It seems this mission isn't simple!" Genichi noticed that it wasn't just his own squad gathering at the gate, but another one as well.
After greeting Sakumo Hatake and his two teammates, Genichi looked at the other four. Three of them had very distinct features: one from the Yamanaka clan, one from the Akimichi clan, and one from the Nara clan. The other youth also looked vaguely familiar.
"Genichi, this is Tozo Akimichi, Kei Yamanaka, Kaito Nara, and Shinnosuke Sarutobi," Sakumo Hatake introduced them to Genichi.
Shinnosuke Sarutobi?
No wonder he looked familiar. The eldest son of the Third Hokage, older brother of Asuma, one of the legendary Eight Colors of Konoha, rumored to be a master of Earth Release and one of the right-hand men of Hiruzen Sarutobi's Anbu. Of course, Shinnosuke looked only twelve or thirteen years old at the moment.
Genichi bowed respectfully and addressed each of them as "senpai."
The four of them were all very warm and polite. The news that Genichi had been taken on as an official disciple by Sakumo Hatake had already spread throughout Konoha. Even without considering Genichi's reputation as a genius, they had to be polite out of respect for Sakumo.
The group didn't exchange much small talk. Once everyone had arrived, at Sakumo's command, they all performed the Body Flicker Technique and departed the village.
