Chapter 107: The Secret Treasure Within the Cave
“It seems that in some situations, the Mirror World is even more dangerous than the real world. After all, my divine status is still incomplete—I am the common enemy of all mirror images within the Mirror World.” Chu Yun hovered hesitantly in midair, reluctant to continue flying toward the mountaintop.
Hunting the Chimera safely by leveraging the Mirror World’s powers was undoubtedly more secure; directly summoning a fire elemental might not be enough to trap the creature inside its cave. If an accident occurred and he had to retreat into the Mirror World, it could inadvertently attract the giant beast from the mountain—a very perilous outcome.
As he hesitated, a streak of blue light on the cliffside caught Chu Yun’s attention.
“Hmm? That looks like the Glazed Lily, doesn’t it? Is my luck good or bad?” Chu Yun shook his head wryly.
Had he not nearly been killed in the Mirror World, he probably wouldn’t have stopped here; he would have flown to a higher vantage point, missing the Glazed Lily altogether.
There was no reason to give up what was within reach. Chu Yun guided his flying wings toward the cliff.
As he drew nearer, he noticed that the Glazed Lily actually grew above the cave entrance, beneath which lay a cave opening over two meters high.
“Could this be the Chimera’s lair?” Chu Yun wondered.
But he quickly dismissed the thought—the Chimera’s size was far too large to fit into this cave.
Approaching further, Chu Yun noticed blue light emanating from inside; the cave seemed to be filled with many Glazed Lilies.
He carefully picked a Glazed Lily worth five hundred gold coins from above the cave entrance, then landed at the opening to peer inside.
“Wow—so many!” he exclaimed.
Scattered along the passage were numerous Glazed Lilies, and the cave glittered with radiant blue light, showcasing countless blooms.
“Should I go in?” Chu Yun hesitated, still shaken from his near-death experience.
“There’s nothing to fear. That monster would take time to emerge after the earthquake. If danger arises, I’ll have enough time to react,” he reassured himself. Initially frightened, upon reflection, he realized the creature posed little actual threat to him.
If danger came in the real world, he could hide in the Mirror World. It would take the monster tens of seconds to detect and attack him there.
During those precious seconds, he could return briefly to reality. The monster in the Mirror World would then lose track of him and revert to its original position, along with the damaged mountain terrain.
As for the giant beast in reality, Chu Yun was not afraid. From current intelligence, it was likely the cause of the frequent rockfalls and earthquakes on the mountain, yet no one had ever seen it. It probably slumbered deep within the mountain, occasionally snoring.
In reality, Chu Yun was just a modest mage—he wouldn’t attract its attention or become its target.
With only a little over ten thousand gold coins on him, Chu Yun couldn’t deny feeling tempted by so many Glazed Lilies.
“Besides, this cave is so unusual—there might be other treasures inside,” he speculated.
Glazed Lilies were rare plants, and the cave’s unique environment must be responsible for their abundance.
It was remarkable that amid the earthquake-ridden Falling Rock Mountain, there was still a cave that hadn’t collapsed.
The more he thought about it, the more excited Chu Yun became.
Still, he kept his wits about him. To prepare against possible monster attacks, he summoned a small fire elemental about one and a half meters tall at the cave entrance, scaled to the cave’s size.
This was partly for mobility, and partly to avoid damaging the Glazed Lilies.
This fire elemental was merely a scouting decoy, its temperature not too high.
Its flickering flames illuminated the cave as it moved forward under his command. Chu Yun followed behind, harvesting the Glazed Lilies from the cave walls.
“Eleven, twelve, thirteen… this money is so easy to make!” Chu Yun’s mood lifted. He had heard of finding money before but never experienced it firsthand—this fulfilled a small wish of his.
Chu Yun’s spatial belt couldn’t store living creatures with souls, but it was compatible with plants as long as they weren’t stored for too long.
By then, the fire elemental had completed its mission, safely reaching the cave’s depths.
No monsters lurked inside, nor was this the Chimera’s den. Chu Yun gathered the Glazed Lilies into his spatial belt while surveying the interior.
Aside from the harvested Glazed Lilies, nothing else seemed special.
Yet at the center of the Glazed Lily cluster, Chu Yun’s perception detected an unusually high concentration of elemental energy.
“Something must be down here,” he murmured.
He glanced over his spatial belt but found no suitable digging tools.
Fortunately, as a mage, Chu Yun activated the spatial equipment’s power to manipulate the mixed gravelly, barren soil. Wrapped in his spiritual energy, he collected and stored the soil fragments aside.
To ordinary people, spatial equipment was merely a storage tool; to a mage with strong spiritual power and speed, it could do much more. The rain of scales shot by the mountain beast earlier could have been “borrowed” like arrows with this method.
Unfortunately, the attack had come too suddenly for Chu Yun to consider this, and his power wasn’t strong enough to envelop so many scales. His spatial belt’s limited capacity also couldn’t contain all the scales the beast had fired.
“What exactly is that monster? Is the recent surge in earthquakes due to a monster uprising?” Chu Yun pondered as he dug.
After about half a meter, his spiritual perception detected something different from soil.
It was a box—or rather, a well-preserved simple wooden box.
“There’s definitely something inside!” Chu Yun carefully unearthed the box.
Its surface was carved with unfamiliar patterns, likely the reason for its preservation and resistance to decay. The box was unlocked, and Chu Yun could sense a powerful elemental force within—it was this energy that helped the Glazed Lilies flourish.
In fact, besides the Glazed Lilies, other unknown plants grew in the cave, but Chu Yun had ignored them due to their lack of value.
“What could be inside?” Chu Yun opened the box with a mix of curiosity and caution.
Before his eyes lay a pale blue blossom, resembling a Glazed Lily in appearance. In truth, it was not a flower but a piece of equipment.
“Could this be the legendary sacred relic?” Chu Yun’s heart raced as he held the blossom.
Upon contact, the flower’s glow converged into Chu Yun’s palm.
A wondrous sensation arose, and a new piece of information appeared in his mind—the equipment was beginning to bind to him.
Sacred relics were special artifacts forged from the remnants of ancient masters’ will and power. Binding was required to wield them; even if stolen, no one else could use them unless the bond was severed. Once bound, sacred relics could merge invisibly into the body, making them highly convenient.
This was a discovery that could change everything.
