Chapter 47: This Alistar Doesn't Dodge Skillshots at All
Time flashed by to the evening of the first day of the Lunar New Year, and Lin Ruo’s livestream was exceptionally bustling.
The chat was densely packed, and viewership reached a staggering four million. It was hard to imagine this was the stream of a player who had only played two professional matches.
Naturally, Lin Ruo could imagine why, because he had invited the eternal god of the LPL to duo queue with him.
"Hey, hey, hey, can you hear me, idol?"
"I can hear you, wait for me to log on."
Sitting at home wearing pink headphones, Uzi swiftly logged into his long-neglected Korean server account.
Having just finished his New Year's eve dinner, he chose out of sight, out of mind and did not start his own livestream, causing the viewer traffic to converge almost entirely on Lin Ruo's channel.
Since Lin Ruo had more or less friction with the RNG management, Uzi definitely wouldn't have dared to duo with him while inside the club house.
But once on holiday back home, there were far fewer scruples.
Looking at the chaotic chat, Lin Ruo immediately took up the cudgels for the god: "Uzi, there are so many little haters in the chat stirring up trouble. They must be jealous that I get to duo with you."
At this moment, Uzi’s mentality was fantastic: "It's fine, it's fine, keep a low profile. Who asked for popularity to bring trouble? Just get used to it. It's the New Year, don't mind them."
Lin Ruo beamed with a sunny smile, blending in with the haters once again and actively interacting: "Shut up, you little haters. Uzi has exceptionally strong mental fortitude and will not be influenced by you guys."
"You still want him to take a hot shower? Uzi isn't taking a shower today, just to piss you off."
"He won't wash tomorrow either, still pissing you guys off."
Listening to the endless stream of chatter over the voice call, Uzi furrowed his brows slightly. He didn't know why Lin Ruo insisted on arguing to the death with the chat, but he figured it was probably due to excessive worship of him.
Being able to have such an absolutely loyal fan in the LPL made Uzi feel quite gratified.
Then he quietly turned down the volume of his headphones a bit; he still felt it was quite noisy.
"I've entered the room, let's start."
After a five-minute queue, the two successfully entered the game lobby.
Lin Ruo stopped interacting with the chat and took a sip of water.
Uzi’s inquiring voice rang out: "Lin Ruo, which role are you playing? How about I support you?"
"That would never do!" Lin Ruo flatly refused without a second thought.
That would be desecrating the god; he couldn't do such a thing.
"Since my idol is so amazing, you have to play AD. I'll play support to match you, and our bot lane will definitely crush them."
Seeing this, Uzi nodded in satisfaction. He had only been exchanging polite pleasantries anyway.
He would never play a support role where he couldn't carry; he still preferred the feeling of playing AD with everyone protecting him.
If Lin Ruo had really insisted on playing AD, he would have gone mid to play Yasuo.
Playing anything in a Diamond tier game was a massacre anyway.
During the champion select phase, Uzi, positioned in the first pick, didn't hesitate to instant-lock Vayne.
He wanted to put on a good show in front of a true devotee fan, letting Lin Ruo know what a positive and proud thing it was to have an idol like himself.
This game, I will take on ten!
"As expected of my idol, confidence is peak insanity." Lin Ruo gave a thumbs-up.
The opponents countered by locking in Caitlyn and a support for the bot lane. Lin Ruo asked, "Idol, what support do you want?"
"Anything is fine, depends on your champion pool."
Even as he said that, Uzi shifted the topic and casually reminded him, "Actually, picking Lulu to protect me while I farm would probably make it easier to win."
Turning a deaf ear, Lin Ruo locked in Jarvan IV: "How's this one, idol? We can fight at level two, guaranteed to let you go on a killing spree from start to finish."
Uzi’s expression shifted, and he fidgeted uneasily, saying, "Just play a normal support, no need to be too uniquely creative."
Lin Ruo uttered an "oh" and hovered Yasuo: "This one is great, idol. It has knock-ups, shields, a wind wall and block, and the ultimate can break armor and knock up. The perfect and pure support."
"Can this even be a support?" Uzi expressed his doubts, suddenly feeling like his loyal fan harbored some saboteur tendencies.
Seeing the Yasuo support, the chat had already exploded. Haters and trolls alike acted as if they had reached paradise.
[Just admit it, Yasuo is indeed a perfect support, highly recommended to pick.]
[Pick an AD support instead, double marksmen push waves fast, like Ezreal.]
[Such boldness, pick Ezreal to steal the god's minion wave? Might as well pick Xerath for fast wave clearing.]
[Streamer, I'll gift you a big sword, can you pick Braum to stand behind Uzi?]
[Listen to me, pick Rumble support, flash your ultimate in their faces, and constantly warn Uzi not to play too aggressively.]
Scout, who happened to walk past, saw the uniform suggestions in the chat and laughed his head off.
Lin Ruo, however, remained utterly calm and locked in Thresh.
"There's no help for it, idol. I don't usually play support, and I was afraid regular picks would drag you down, so I wanted to try something unconventional with unorthodox tactics. Since you put it that way, I guess I have no choice but to play Thresh."
Hearing this, Uzi finally set his mind at ease. It seemed he had been overly paranoid, and he placated, "It's fine, Thresh is okay."
"Yeah, yeah, idol, you must remember to click the lantern. I'm afraid you'll get too bloodthirsty and won't be able to make it back," Lin Ruo continued.
"No problem."
On the other side of the screen, Uzi was full of confidence, already geared up to slaughter everything: "If you don't know how to play, just keep an eye on Alistar, use your abilities to push him away, just don't let him initiate on me."
During the game loading screen, Lin Ruo cleared his throat: "My support is really terrible, viewers just bear with it and watch. Don't flame me if I throw, okay?"
Descending into the Rift, they bought their items and headed out. Skipping the level-one invade, the duo raced down to the brush near the enemy bot lane tower.
Uzi took charge: "We'll camp right here and try our luck. Hook anyone who shows up, forcing a summoner spell out of them would be best."
Lin Ruo agreed repeatedly, standing by on standby.
After a moment, the cow and Caitlyn appeared one after the other, chiming bells as they emerged from the triangular brush, swaggering as they prepared to head to lane.
"They're coming, Caitlyn is still behind, the minion wave is arriving, just hook the cow."
Uzi was primed and ready, the hunter instinct within him seemingly awakening, itching to roll forward and teach the opponents a lesson.
However, the forewarned Alistar maneuvered back and forth, purposefully staying just out of reach behind the wall.
"Idol, look at me, look at me."
"Alright, alright, alright."
Once the minion wave met, the opportunity vanished, and Lin Ruo decided to take the initiative.
The two stepped out of the brush together, and Lin Ruo confidently whipped out a Death Sentence, only to turn his head and hook empty air.
Uzi had originally rolled up to follow-up, only to be bravely headbutted right back by Alistar the next second.
"Ahem, my first time playing Thresh, might be a bit out of my element."
Lin Ruo muttered as he retreated back into the brush, waiting for his cooldowns to refresh.
"Idol, my cooldowns are back up, come, come, come."
Strolling out of the brush in grand fashion, the alluring chain chased straight after vital targets, as Lin Ruo lovingly tangled with a minion instead.
"Wow, this minion knows how to sidestep, it actually blocked my Q."
Uzi: ???
