Chapter 3: This Vampire Is Excessively Cautious
Page 1/3
The vampire’s speed and strength were terrifying beyond measure. To an ordinary person, she was utterly overwhelming—machine gun fire couldn’t even graze the edge of her clothing. Without immense power or a sequence ability to counter her, escape was nothing but a fantasy. Moreover, the vampire was extremely vigilant. Her murderous intent was heavy and unyielding; she was the type to rather kill wrongly than let her prey go.
Before she could crush his skull, Mo Yu activated rewind.
His situation was awkward now. He had rushed into the line of fire, unable to use his abilities to escape. Surfacing again, he kicked Alpha back into the water. In a flash of lightning, Mo Yu had already devised an excuse to get away.
Facing the vampire girl once more, he dropped to one knee, placed his right hand on his chest, and wore an expression of admiration as he said, “Great Emperor! I have finally met you!”
“Oh?” The vampire girl showed a look of interest. She emerged from the water and walked slowly toward Mo Yu. Tiny droplets slid down her smooth skin; her slender, snow-white long legs and delicate feet seemed to glow under the moonlight.
“I come from the future, an awakener and the most loyal servant of the bloodline! To see the ancestral Great Emperor is the greatest honor of my life!” Mo Yu began to fabricate a story.
From the limited information he had, he roughly understood the time period he was in—the period of concealment. When monsters first appeared, they weren’t yet strong; they excelled at disguises, infiltrating human society bit by bit, gradually taking control of social operations.
According to space station records, this period spanned over 500 years, covering from the human Middle Ages to modern times. Only monsters during this era needed to disguise themselves; in other periods, monsters ruled openly.
The vampire girl grew interested in his words. Mo Yu ransacked his mind. Alpha had told him some history, albeit in fragments—thousands of years of human resurgence organizations destroying and rebuilding repeatedly had caused many records to be lost, but important historical data remained.
In history, there was a vampire era lasting 200 years, ruled by a vampire Great Emperor who led them to victory in the monster wars, controlling 80% of the continent—a time of unprecedented dominance.
Using this historical segment as a foundation, Mo Yu began spinning tales, mixing truth and fiction. This was a delaying tactic. As long as he could escape, with the power of rewind, the vampire wouldn’t catch him. Besides, records showed humans during the concealment period were strong; monsters dared not act recklessly.
His mind raced, speaking convincingly by weaving real history with lies.
The vampire girl nodded approvingly and asked, “Then tell me my story. This is 2033—what will happen next?”
“Well… Great Emperor, the history of the concealment period was erased by you. I don’t know,” Mo Yu improvised.
The beautiful girl responded with a hum, then touched her chin thoughtfully. “What is my name?”
Mo Yu was speechless.
[Prepare for battle.]
This vampire was not easily fooled.
“Stop! Don’t move. Let me die knowing clearly—what is your name?”

Mo Yu straightened, standing tall and looking down at her. The height difference between them was over a head and a half.
The vampire girl raised an eyebrow, snorted, lifted her chin arrogantly and declared, “I am Elise Dracula.”
Rewind!
Kicking Alpha into the water again, Mo Yu dropped to one knee and said, “Ah! The great Elise Dracula, Great Emperor! I come from the future and am the most loyal servant of the bloodline. To see the Great Emperor is the greatest honor of my life!”
He repeated his earlier performance, speaking more fluently and acting more convincingly this time, even preemptively explaining that history from the concealment period had been erased.
When he finished, Elise fell into thought. Suddenly, she looked up and said, “Tell me what you just said, but backwards.”
Mo Yu fell silent.
This was bad.
This vampire was far too clever.
Research showed liars seldom narrate events in reverse without preparation; attempting to do so often exposes them.
Mo Yu’s words were half-truths, half-fabrications. He simply couldn’t provide a complete reverse narrative—it was all freshly made up.
[Prepare for battle.]
Rewind!
This time, Mo Yu was better prepared, minimizing fabrications and passing the small test smoothly.
Elise nodded, then suddenly asked, “Why haven’t you transformed into a vampire?”
Mo Yu replied, “It is my honor to provide you with nourishment.”
“A servant is a servant, and food is food. Don’t even know that?” Elise’s tone was icy.
[Prepare for battle.]
Mo Yu gasped.
Rewind!
“What flavor of blood do I prefer?”
“A!”
“Preferences like food cannot be a secret—otherwise, how would I receive offerings? Type O is my favorite; all my subordinates know this.”
[Prepare for battle.]
Mo Yu swore.
Rewind!
“How many offspring have I borne since becoming the vampire Great Emperor?”
“Five.”
“Hmph, don’t you even know the vampire inheritance curse? Unless dead, a powerful vampire will not bear offspring. Or are you suggesting I am about to die?”
[Prepare for battle.]
Rewind!
Rewind!
Rewind!

Mo Yu had lost count of how many times he had rewound, feeling mentally exhausted.
This was the sole drawback of rewind: each use accumulated spiritual fatigue that could not be relieved. Once the threshold was reached, all attributes suffered penalties.
No wonder vampires hiding within human society were so cautious. Elise’s vigilance was extraordinary; she dug traps with casual questions and upheld the principle of rather wrongly kill than let slip. Any unsatisfactory answer meant death.
“Fine, I’ll tentatively believe you,” Elise finally said after countless repetitions.
She lifted her delicate foot and stopped in front of Mo Yu—her meaning was clear.
A foot-kissing gesture.
Though the foot was white, tender, and soft—fulfilling every expectation of a foot fetishist—Mo Yu immediately jumped up and slapped Elise across the face.
“I’m giving you face!”
For reasons unknown, Elise did not dodge. She covered her cheek, dazed, staring blankly at Mo Yu.
Mo Yu gave a rude gesture.
Rewind!
This was the final test.
Mo Yu tried several times but always got stuck here. This was clearly vampire etiquette for taking a servant.
He quickly found a way to break through.
When Elise extended her foot, he immediately put on a piggish expression, wore a lecherous, goofy grin, rubbed his hands excitedly, and slowly cupped her small foot like a precious treasure, kneading it back and forth, mouth wide open as if about to suck it in a storm.
Elise’s fur bristled; she retracted her foot at lightning speed, crossed her arms over her chest, and cursed, “Get away! Don’t touch me! You pervert!”
Mo Yu looked regretful.
Elise took three steps back, a look of disgust on her face.
With his flawless answers and acting, Elise no longer attacked. Whether she believed him or simply found him amusing, he did not know.
“From now on, serve by my side.”
“Yes, Great Emperor.”
“Call me Miss.”
“Yes, Miss!”
“What is that in the water?”
“This is a product of future technology, a mechanical dog. It helps its owner manage daily affairs—very convenient.”
Mo Yu pulled Alpha from the water. Earlier, it had tried twice to come ashore but was stealthily kicked back each time.
Alpha’s breathing light flickered. Under Mo Yu’s command, it made no sound but flailed its limbs wildly and even tried to headbutt Mo Yu.
Mo Yu looked at Elise again.
A string of red text appeared:
[This vampire is very interested in you. You have agreed to become her servant, but this is only a delaying tactic. Humans! Never be slaves! Kill her. Mission reward: 1 ability point.]
[Detected as a special unit; live capture will unlock the legendary page in the monster compendium.]
The very first mission after crossing over.
His panel was indeed related to monsters—only activated near them.
