Chapter 109: The Fool Who Parked Illegally
Jiangnan of China—a place praised by countless poets.
At this moment, the rainy night in Jiangnan was dreamlike, hazy, and tender. The gentle drizzle pattered rhythmically against the green stone slabs, creating a misty veil that blurred the ancient town’s weathered walls and softened the faded red bricks and blue tiles worn by time.
Apricot blossoms, lightly knocked down by the rain, lay scattered in the puddles of the uneven stones, their pale yellow hues preserving memories and deepening the night’s gentle embrace. A quiet breeze carried the softness, mingling with the raindrops as it swept through the old town of Jiangnan.
“The rainy nights in Jiangnan are still so beautiful,” a young man murmured, standing by a window framed with antique style. He held a steaming cup of tea, savoring the warmth, his voice filled with admiration.
He took a sip of the hot tea, turned around, and with a gentle smile, squinted his eyes to glance at another young man in the room. “This night in Jiangnan is far more comfortable than any night in the capital,” he continued.
The young man sipping tea was handsome and refined, especially his peach blossom-shaped eyes beneath sharply arched brows. A small black mole beneath one eye added to his charm and allure.
“Master Wuyan, have you come all the way to Jiangnan just to praise the night view? The women here are far more beautiful and pleasant to be with,” replied the other young man with a faint smile.
This second young man had sharply defined, chiseled features, as if sculpted by a blade. While undeniably handsome at first glance, a closer look revealed a chilling aura in his cobra-like eyes, giving off an unmistakably dangerous vibe.
“Forget women for now. I came to discuss the Guxia brand matter with you,” Wuyan quietly said, taking a seat opposite the other young man.
“The Guxia brand? You know I have zero interest in that,” the young man replied coolly, as if the matter barely concerned him.
“Don’t say that. We both belong to the Y lineage. The Guxia brand is our ultimate pursuit,” Wuyan said, locking eyes with the cold gaze opposite him.
“So what? Not interested means not interested. You’re better off talking to the uncles about this,” the young man said, raising another cup of Longjing tea to sip, avoiding Wuyan’s gaze.
“Oh? Is that so?” Wuyan propped his chin on his hands, smiling brightly at him. After a moment, he stood up. “It seems I was being rude. I won’t bother you any longer.”
Turning toward the door, Wuyan paused and looked back. “By the way, next time I come, you must let me experience those beautiful Jiangnan women you mentioned.”
“And your tea tonight was quite good—definitely better than the herbal tea at KFC,” he added with a smirk.
“Thank you very much for the compliment, Master Wuyan!” The young man’s hand trembled slightly as he heard “KFC,” but his tone remained calm and steady.
“Not at all, I’m just speaking the truth,” Wuyan replied, closing the door behind him as he left.
With the door’s click, the young man sighed softly, gazing up at the ceiling and muttering, “KFC, huh?”
Rubbing his temples, he sat upright again and picked up his phone to dial a number.
Though it was late at night, the call was answered promptly. On the other end came a respectful voice, “Mr. Y!”
“Yes, it’s me. How’s the preparation?” the young man asked seriously, holding a voice changer. “I don’t want you to be as useless as those four fools who robbed KFC.”
“Mr. Y, comparing me to those four idiots is underestimating me. Everything is ready here; we’re just waiting for the right moment. Don’t worry, I’ll definitely get you Qin Mengxue’s head,” the confident voice assured.
“Just make sure your skills match your price!” the young man warned, then ended the call abruptly.
He sighed deeply and opened a drawer in front of him.
The drawer was full, yet its contents were singular—photos. Each photo showed a person dressed in a black suit, wearing a radiant goddess butterfly mask. This was undoubtedly the assassin known as Illusion Butterfly, the god of killers.
The young man’s expression twisted into a grimace as he picked up one photo and lit it with a lighter.
Watching the image of the masked figure burn away in the flames, an unsettling satisfaction spread through him. His smile grew wider, almost deranged, as a twisted voice escaped his lips.
“Damn you, Wuyan. Don’t be so arrogant. Only I deserve the title of the strongest heir of the Y lineage! As for that Illusion Butterfly, she’s nothing but a mere pest. One day, I will have my revenge! Just wait…” He laughed hysterically.
……………………
Meanwhile, in Beiyang City of North China, unlike the gentle rain in Jiangnan, thunder roared and lightning flashed violently. Torrential rain poured from the pitch-black sky, fiercely cleansing every corner of the city.
Xue Tian’ai lay awake, quietly leaning against the bedside, staring at a photo on his phone. The picture was taken when he, Qin Mengxue, and Cen An’an went to eat at KFC.
In the photo, Cen An’an stood excitedly at the KFC counter, pointing boldly at the menu while the flustered female clerk scrambled to take her order.
“Interesting…” Xue Tian’ai’s eyes narrowed slightly as he smiled softly. He then turned off the screen, stretched comfortably, and lay down to sleep.
……………………
Though the night was long and comfortable, time seemed to pass strangely fast for those asleep. Dawn came swiftly with bright sunshine casting a warm glow.
On a road in Beiyang City, a black Audi TT sped steadily down the center of the street. The driver was unmistakably Xue Tian’ai.
Though he owned top-tier sports cars like a Porsche 918 and a Ferrari LaFerrari, he didn’t drive them to work. Such flashy vehicles would be too conspicuous for a mere executive assistant like himself.
That morning, Cen An’an had taken the gleaming black Porsche 918 to school with a radiant smile, while an annoyed Qin Mengxue had driven off in the LaFerrari.
Xue Tian’ai couldn’t quite understand why, after telling Qin Mengxue he would drive himself to work and no longer go with her, her expression suddenly changed. She had devoured all the breakfast he made without leaving a single sausage for him and stormed off in the Ferrari, saying nothing.
Perplexed, Xue Tian’ai asked his sister-in-law, Cen An’an, for insight.
She replied with a disappointed tone, “Brother-in-law, your emotional intelligence is like a roller coaster—sometimes high, sometimes low. Think about it carefully!” Then she shook her head and drove off to school in the Porsche 918 with a bright smile.
Xue Tian’ai sighed deeply and continued driving, but not far down the road, his stomach growled loudly.
Remembering that both women had eaten all his breakfast and left nothing for him, he stopped by a breakfast stall on the roadside to eat.
He ordered a bowl of tofu pudding and two baskets of steamed buns. However, upon entering the stall, he found it packed with customers during the morning rush, with no seats available.
Resigned, he returned to his car to eat. His stomach having protested for some time, he began to eat heartily.
While eating, his eyes wandered about. Soon, a female traffic officer wearing a mask and working diligently caught his attention.
“Wow, not bad—her figure is amazing: big chest and a nice butt. Are female traffic cops this hot nowadays? It’s a shame I can’t see her face behind the mask,” Xue Tian’ai said admiringly, munching on his bun as he watched her issue a ticket to a car ahead.
“Though the driver really was foolish to park illegally. Haha, who in their right mind gets a fine for illegal parking these days?” he chuckled, amused both by the officer’s figure and the driver’s mistake.
Finishing his meal, Xue Tian’ai tidied up his trash and got out of the car to toss it in the bin across the street.
As he finished, he noticed the striking female officer standing beside a black car, writing out a ticket.
He sighed softly, “There sure are a lot of idiots who park illegally these days. It’s such a hassle for the traffic cops—what if they get worn out from all the work, what will happen to their beautiful figures?”
Suddenly, a strange feeling washed over him. That black car being ticketed looked oddly familiar.
“Damn! That’s my car!”
