Chapter 95: The Demands for the Wei Family
Everyone began to speak out in anger, directing their fury at Wan Rongsheng. After all, Wan Rongsheng had swindled them out of five billion, and all their money had been transferred into his account. Although this amount wouldn't bankrupt them, it was still a considerable sum, and more importantly, no one wanted to be made a fool of so easily.
"I told you earlier, you've already swindled five billion today. If you hand over those five billion to me, we'll let this matter rest," Chu Tian said coldly, his voice chilling to the bone. "But it seems you didn't listen to my words!"
"Rest assured, Mr. Chu! I will return the five billion to you right now!" Wan Rongsheng replied with a flattering smile. To preserve his life, he wouldn't hesitate to part with this money—after all, it was ill-gotten and never his to begin with.
At his words, the crowd fell silent. That five billion was their money—if Wan Rongsheng was to return it, it should go to them, not to Chu Tian. Yet, since Chu Tian had spoken, none dared object. And if they could forge a connection with such a remarkable man, the five billion would be well spent.
"No, I've changed my mind." Chu Tian shook his head gently.
"Mr. Chu, what... what do you mean?" Wan Rongsheng's face twitched, his body instantly bristling with fear.
"Earlier, I asked you to leave five billion behind, without intending to take your life. But you colluded with people from the Gate of Ten Thousand Ghosts, trying to kill me. Do you think I will spare you now?" Chu Tian's voice was indifferent, as if questioning him, yet also as if pronouncing his death sentence.
"No... don't kill me! It was Ma Tianxing who forced me into this, it really had nothing to do with me! Mr. Chu, I beg you, give me another chance. I'll not only give you the five billion, I'll also offer you half my family's fortune as an apology," Wan Rongsheng pleaded, his knees buckling as he knelt before Chu Tian.
"It's too late for repentance now!" Chu Tian said coldly. "Su Dingguo, I'll leave him to you."
Chu Tian wore an expression of utter indifference, paying no heed to Wan Rongsheng's fate. At this, Su Dingguo nodded and strode forward.
"Don't... don't kill me!" Wan Rongsheng gritted his teeth, scrambled up from the floor, and tried to flee the private room.
But Su Dingguo was faster, taking the lead in an instant. He landed a punch squarely on Wan Rongsheng's head.
Bang!
The blow caved in half of Wan Rongsheng's face, distorting his features. The next second, his body collapsed limply to the ground and rolled down the stairs.
"As for those five billion, I have little interest in them. Retrieve your own money," Chu Tian cast a glance at the crowd, his words light as air.
"Thank you, Mr. Chu!" the crowd responded eagerly. "If not for Mr. Chu, we'd never have gotten our money back, and might even have lost our lives to Wan Rongsheng!"
"In my opinion, those five billion should belong to Mr. Chu, as a token of gratitude for saving us!"
Everyone spoke up, eager to ingratiate themselves with Chu Tian.
At that moment, the club was in chaos. Wan Rongsheng's corpse rolled down the stairs, alarming the club's guards. Though not true experts, the guards had some martial training and soon clashed with the bodyguards brought by the wealthy guests.
"Su Dingguo, it's getting noisy outside. Go handle it," Chu Tian instructed, noticing the commotion outside the private room.
"Yes," Su Dingguo nodded and left the room.
He joined the fray personally and quickly subdued everyone. The weight of a master at the pinnacle of internal cultivation was enough to intimidate the guards. Now that Ma Tianxing was dead, no one in the club, apart from Chu Tian, could match Su Dingguo.
Moments later, peace was restored outside the private room. Wang Jiulong and Su Dingguo returned.
"Mr. Chu, everyone in the club has been dealt with. I've already notified the Ancient Martial Arts Administration Bureau; they'll handle the aftermath. However, the Wan family's business is substantial—if not managed well, further trouble may arise," Su Dingguo hesitated, worry flickering across his face.
"What does the bureau intend?" Chu Tian asked.
"This is still Tianmen City's territory. The bureau plans to select one of the city's four great families to take over the Wan family's assets, to prevent any incidents. What is your opinion, Mr. Chu?" Su Dingguo glanced at Chu Tian, gauging his attitude.
Chu Tian fell silent for a moment.
Logically, after such heinous deeds, the Wan family's assets should be confiscated. Yet now, Su Dingguo relayed that the bureau intended to hand the Wan family's business to one of Tianmen City's elite families. This seemed irregular—wasn't it essentially permitting one family to absorb another's assets?
But upon reflection, Chu Tian understood. Su Dingguo was specifically seeking his opinion, hoping to grant the Wan family's assets to him.
"I'm not interested in the Wan family's business. But if it must be entrusted to one of Tianmen City's elite families, I suggest the Wei family," Chu Tian turned his gaze to Wang Jiulong.
Though Wei Yuansheng hadn't attended today's auction, Wang Jiulong was fully capable of representing the Wei family.
"Master, the Wei family will never disappoint you!" Wang Jiulong replied with a joyful expression.
At once, Su Dingguo's face showed understanding, as if confirming his suspicions.
"Jiulong, I haven't finished," Chu Tian raised his hand, stopping Wang Jiulong's excitement.
Wang Jiulong immediately quieted, his eyes fixed on Chu Tian, awaiting further instructions.
"I can entrust the Wan family's assets to Elder Wei, but I have one condition—the Wei family must submit completely to my command," Chu Tian stated his demand; after all, he couldn't support the Wei family for nothing.
Wang Jiulong froze for a moment. To have the entire Wei family submit to Chu Tian was clearly not his decision to make. But he recovered quickly.
"Master, the Wei family is willing to obey your command," Wang Jiulong said solemnly, making the pledge.
"Are you not going to consult Elder Wei?" Chu Tian asked, surprised. He had expected Wang Jiulong to at least notify Wei Yuansheng and let him decide. Unexpectedly, Wang Jiulong made the decision on his own, without seeking Wei Yuansheng's opinion. Was this out of trust in Chu Tian, or disregard for Wei Yuansheng?
Naturally, Wang Jiulong was also puzzled. Given Chu Tian's favor toward the Wei family, there was hardly any need for such a condition. Why, then?
